Folded Light is a contemporary duet that investigates how connection is formed, tested, and reshaped through movement. Built on subtle partnering, weight-sharing, and restraint, the piece unfolds as a quiet conversation between two bodies navigating closeness and distance.
About the Work
The choreography of Folded Light moves between structure and improvisation, allowing moments of control to dissolve into instinctive response. Touch is treated as both support and resistance, shaping the rhythm of the piece without overpowering it.
Lighting plays a critical role, casting soft shadows that shift as the performers move. Rather than directing attention outward, the work invites the audience to observe the subtle negotiations happening between the two bodies — how balance is found, lost, and recovered in real time.
My Role
I co-choreographed and performed Folded Light, working closely with my duet partner to develop a shared movement language. The process involved extensive improvisation, focusing on listening through the body and responding without anticipation. My role required constant awareness, adaptability, and trust.
