Overview

TRACE is a 12-minute solo work that examines how identity lives in the body through breath, rhythm, and repetition. Performed in an intimate theatre setting, the piece strips movement back to its essentials, allowing raw physical presence to guide the narrative. The work invites the audience into a quiet but intense exploration of self.

About the Work

Built from improvisational research and later refined into a structured score, TRACE moves between tension and release. The choreography focuses on subtle shifts — changes in breath, weight, and tempo — creating a landscape where stillness carries as much meaning as motion.

The performance unfolds without music for long stretches, allowing the sounds of breath and movement to become part of the score. This minimal approach sharpens attention and deepens the emotional impact, drawing the audience into the physical and psychological terrain of the piece.

My Role

As both choreographer and performer, I developed TRACE as a deeply personal work. I shaped the movement through extended improvisation sessions, later refining the material into a clear structure for performance. Performing the piece required sustained focus, presence, and a willingness to remain emotionally open throughout.
