Overview
SILENCE is a contemporary ensemble performance that examines what exists beneath words — the tension, resistance, and emotion that surface in moments of quiet. Performed by a group of dancers, the work uses repetition, stillness, and spatial awareness to create a shared physical language rooted in restraint.
About the Work
The choreography of SILENCE is built around absence as much as action. Movement unfolds slowly, allowing pauses and unspoken moments to hold weight. Rather than driving the narrative forward, the work invites the audience to sit with discomfort, anticipation, and emotional undercurrents.
Group formations shift subtly throughout the piece, emphasizing collective presence over individual expression. Sound design is sparse, amplifying breath, footfalls, and the physical reality of bodies sharing space. The result is a performance that feels suspended — held in a state of quiet intensity.
My Role
As an ensemble performer, my role was rooted in listening — to the group, to timing, and to the space itself. The work required heightened awareness and restraint, prioritizing collective rhythm over individual prominence. Performing SILENCE meant committing fully to subtlety, presence, and shared responsibility within the ensemble.
